Course Agenda

The course agenda contains the description of the activity to be developed, the dates for the opening and delivery of the proposed activity for each evaluation moment.

The introduction and the agenda of the course give us an idea of what we are going to work during the whole course.

Activity 1. Recognition forum

Activities to carry out

a. Each student should introduce himself/herself and invite his/her classmates to participate in the forum.

I hope to learn the necessary and a little more with the development of the activities assigned in this course.

1. How can English help you in your personal development?

Learning English can help in my personal development since it allows me to unwrap myself in environments in which this language is handled, at the same time as it offers the possibility to meet other cultures and to relate extensively.

2. Is English important in your career? If so, why?

Yes, English is important in my profession because when I learn it I can pass to my students in in order to provide them with a complete education. In addition to the above I can expand my study methods.

3. Do you think that the curriculum of this course will help you improve your English?

Yes. It is well structured.

4. Which of the themes of the program do you find familiar?

5. How has your English learning experience been?

English written and read for me is easier than English listening, since I have severe hearing difficulty. The complete learning of English is complex, then.

This is a reading quiz where you have to read the texts and answer to the questions.

You will have 2 attempts and 80 minutes to solve it.

For me it is more understandable reading in English, than when I listen to speak this idiom.

Activity 5. Vocabulary quiz

Dear student,

This is the test for the contents on the third and last unit on this English B2 course.

It has 2 attempts and is worth 50 points.

Activity 6 - Speaking

Activities to carry out:  

a. Video recording

• Each student has to make a video, in which he should introduce himself and include one of the 3 topics mentioned above. 

• Share the recording or the link of the video in the forum.

b. Interview

• Your tutor will send you a link containing a time table for you to register in the established days and hours. 

• Register on the schedule your ID number, full name, group number, email and Skype username. 

• Login to the virtual tool at least 10 minutes before the interview. 

• Remember to have from 10 to 15 minutes and guarantee the headset, microphone and camera work fine to carry out the interview.

Greetings dear students, this is a link for students that HAVE NOT PRESENTED THE INTERVIEW.

If you cannot present your interview, you must present a new video using one of the three subjects worked in the guide (different from the one that you used in the first video) , JUST UPLOAD THE VIDEO IN THE SPEAKING FORUM AND IN THIS DRIVE (both places) and do not forget to fill up the timetable completely.

STEP 2:  PARAGRAPH

Is the future of human race threatened by technology?

I think we are destroying nature, on which we depend. In one way or another we contribute to the deterioration of the planet. Wasting some natural resources like water and having habits that are not healthy. (Mostly we throw the garbage anywhere, for example) In addition to that practices such as deforestation, the use of plastic and mining pollute the environment. The evolution of technology has brought many problems to the life of the people who are much more notorious at present, since this is being used without taking preventive measures for the wear and tear of nature. Much education is needed around the use of technology. Wars are being supported by technological advances, in some cases diseases are created as a form of mass control for which cures must also be found. Technology has provided positive advances in all fields of life but it has also brought problems that need solutions.

I believe that reversing this situation is difficult, but not impossible. We must create awareness everywhere and in all people of the importance of carrying out healthy practices and habits to heal the earth. If we do not take care of the resources that we have, we will soon be without them and we will have difficulties to survive.

It is necessary to educate future generations so that they also take care of the environment and can take advantage of natural resources in the right way.

As you mention in your paragraph, the negative effect of technology is often silent and causes harm to people in a way that is not visible at the beginning. I agree with your position, but I would like to know if you consider that it is possible to reduce these risks that you mention.

I find interesting your comment about the evolution of technology in the world, I think that sometimes we forget the real impact of technology in the life of the human being.

I also agree with you that parents are partly responsible for educating children about the proper use and application of technology.
